In a significant move to transform Vietnam’s insurance landscape, Hong Kong-based insurtech firm AIFT and Taiwan’s Shin Kong Life have announced a strategic partnership aimed at building a next-generation digital insurance ecosystem in Vietnam.
The agreement, signed on Thursday, marks a milestone in the cross-border collaboration between two established insurers and sets the stage for the international expansion of Taiwan’s insurance technology.
The partnership leverages AIFT’s proprietary digital insurance platform, IXT, alongside Shin Kong Vietnam Co., Ltd.’s market knowledge and distribution strength. Together, they aim to deliver a hybrid online-to-offline (O2O) insurance model that will streamline the customer journey and improve insurance accessibility.
IXT, AIFT’s flagship insurance software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform, features modular architecture, low-code product templates, and an automated rules engine. Designed for rapid adaptation to local markets, IXT enables insurers to build customizable workflows and enhance policy administration, paving the way for scalable and trustworthy insurance solutions.
The initiative began under the guidance of Chairman Mark Wei through AIFT’s participation in FinTechSpace Taiwan, a program supported by Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission. Initially focused on serving Taiwanese businesses and expatriates in Vietnam, the partnership also aims to expand coverage to local Vietnamese consumers and eventually across Southeast Asia.
Shin Kong Vietnam has already partnered with PetroVietnam Insurance (PVI), a market leader in general insurance, to roll out digital personal protection products including car insurance coverage, health, and travel insurance. Within three months, Shin Kong Vietnam developed a fully digital application process using IXT’s low-code capabilities and is preparing to launch scenario-based and group insurance offerings.
To support localized deployment and meet cybersecurity standards, the collaboration has also brought in Chunghwa Telecom Vietnam Subsidiary as a strategic partner for cloud infrastructure and data center services.
Michelle Ip, CEO of AIFT Enterprise, emphasized the firm’s vision of making insurance simpler and more integrated into daily life through technology. “This partnership is not only about market entry; it’s about redefining digital insurance delivery across Southeast Asia,” she said.
Mark Wei, Chairman of Shin Kong Life, echoed that sentiment: “This marks an important step in Taiwan’s insurance technology going global. AIFT’s agile platform and market entry capability complement our strategic direction perfectly.”
This venture is seen as a cornerstone for future regional expansions and a showcase of Taiwan’s fintech innovation. The collaboration is expected to set new standards for insurance guide models that are competitive, scalable, and compliant with local regulations throughout the Southeast Asian region.
